WHY THIS DOCUMENT IS IMPORTANT

The Experiences offered on Soul Voyager are intended for educational, cultural, experiential and personal wellbeing purposes. They are not medical procedures, therapies or healthcare treatments. Soul Voyager is not a healthcare organisation and does not provide medical or psychological services.

Holistic and spiritual practices can have real effects on the body, emotions and mind — sometimes intense and sometimes unexpected. For this reason, we ask you to read the following information carefully before booking.

An important technical note: this Disclaimer provides general information about risks. It does not in itself constitute "informed consent" as required by Swiss and European case law for activities affecting health, nor does it constitute explicit consent to the processing of health data under Article 9(2)(a) GDPR. Specific informed consent is collected separately and in writing by the Host before the Experience begins.

SOUL VOYAGER AND THE HOST: WHO DOES WHAT

1. Our role: facilitators, not healthcare providers

The Experiences do not constitute medical or healthcare procedures, diagnoses, therapies or treatments of any kind. They do not constitute psychological, psychiatric, psychotherapeutic or pharmacological advice. They are not a substitute for treatment prescribed by your doctor. Nor are they promises or guarantees of healing, clinical improvement or transformation.

Soul Voyager is not a healthcare organisation, does not provide therapeutic services and does not employ healthcare professionals. If you need medical, psychological or psychiatric assistance, consult qualified professionals in your country of residence.

2. The Host's responsibility

Each Experience is organised, managed and delivered by the Host, who is responsible for:

  • The physical and psychological safety of Participants during the Experience.
  • The suitability of their qualifications and skills.
  • Obtaining specific informed consent before the Experience begins.
  • Managing any medical or psychological emergencies.
  • Compliance with applicable local laws and regulations.

THE EXPERIENCES AVAILABLE ON THE PLATFORM

3. Types of Experiences

The Experiences offered include, without limitation:

  • Meditation, mindfulness and contemplation.
  • Yoga in its different traditions (Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Yin and Nidra), pranayama and mindful movement.
  • Spiritual practices from different traditions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Sufism, Indigenous traditions and shamanism).
  • Holistic disciplines (reiki, crystal healing, Ayurveda, sound therapy, bioenergetics and family constellations).
  • Mindful eating programs, intermittent fasting and nutritional retreats — delivered exclusively by qualified Hosts.
  • Advanced breathing techniques (holotropic breathwork, rebirthing and the Wim Hof Method) — only with qualified facilitators.
  • Thermal practices (sauna, steam bath and cold-water immersion).
  • Physical and adventure activities (trekking, surfing and martial arts).
  • Experiences with a high emotional impact (family constellations, grief retreats and death cafes).
  • Experiences involving sacred plants and substances traditionally used in ceremonies — available only in jurisdictions where they are legal and subject to specific compliance conditions (see Section IV).
  • Coaching, personal growth programs and silent retreats.

SPECIFIC RISKS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS

The following information is general. For each Experience, read the specific guidance published by the Host and consult your doctor if you have any doubts.

3.1 Advanced breathing techniques

Practices such as holotropic breathwork, rebirthing and the Wim Hof Method may cause tingling in the extremities, dizziness, transient tetany, temporary altered states of consciousness, hyperventilation and fainting.

Absolute contraindications: epilepsy or a history of seizures; pregnancy; significant cardiovascular disease; diagnosed cerebral aneurysms; retinal detachment; current or previous psychotic disorders; acute bipolar disorder; use of benzodiazepines, antipsychotics or other psychotropic medication without a doctor's approval.

3.2 Fasting and dietary restrictions

Prolonged fasting programs may cause hypoglycaemia, electrolyte imbalances, weakness, dizziness and cardiac arrhythmias. Contraindications: insulin-dependent diabetes, eating disorders, pregnancy and breastfeeding, kidney or liver disease, and treatment with anticoagulants or insulin.

3.3 Thermal practices

Sauna, steam baths and cold-water immersion may cause heatstroke, dehydration, thermal shock and sudden changes in blood pressure. Contraindications: cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, pregnancy, heart valve disease, and recent use of alcohol or psychoactive substances.

3.4 Physical and outdoor activities

Yoga, trekking, surfing and martial arts involve a risk of musculoskeletal injury. Assess your physical abilities honestly and inform the Host of any limitations before the Experience begins.

3.5 Practices with a high emotional impact

Family constellations, grief retreats and trauma work may cause past trauma to resurface, intense emotional states and dissociative crises. Contraindications: acute dissociative disorders, untreated PTSD and recent traumatic bereavement without therapeutic support. Hosts offering these practices must have post-Experience support protocols in place.

EXPERIENCES INVOLVING SACRED PLANTS AND CEREMONIAL SUBSTANCES

4. General principle and compliance framework

Soul Voyager recognises the cultural and spiritual value of traditions that use sacred plants in ceremonial contexts. At the same time, the legality of these practices varies significantly from country to country and the health risks are real. For this reason, we make them available only under specific conditions.

Soul Voyager does not promote, facilitate or allow the booking of Experiences involving substances classified as narcotics in the Traveler's jurisdiction of residence or in the jurisdiction where the Experience takes place. You are responsible for checking their legality both in your country of residence and in the country where the Experience takes place.

4.1 Experiences in jurisdictions where they are legally permitted

Soul Voyager may make Experiences involving the traditional ceremonial use of sacred plants available exclusively to Travelers who reside in and connect from jurisdictions where the practice is legally permitted (for example, ayahuasca in recognised ceremonial contexts in Peru or Brazil, or psilocybin in the Netherlands or Oregon in accordance with local regulations). Availability is subject to compliance with the framework described below.

4.2 Required compliance framework

Publication of these Experiences is subject to Soul Voyager first implementing all of the following measures:

  • IP-based geoblocking that prevents users connecting from jurisdictions where the practice is illegal from viewing the catalogue.
  • Mandatory verification of the Traveler's tax residence at checkout, consistent with the payment method used.
  • A binding contractual clause requiring the Host to refuse Participants resident in prohibitive jurisdictions and to verify residence upon arrival.
  • Specific insurance coverage taken out by Soul Voyager that expressly covers activities involving ceremonial psychoactive substances.
  • Partnerships with legal advisers in the jurisdiction where each Experience takes place and a written legal opinion confirming compliance.

Until all these measures have been implemented, Experiences involving sacred plants are not published on the platform. This Disclaimer alone is not a sufficient legal basis for offering them.

4.3 Specific risks of Experiences involving sacred plants

When made available, these Experiences involve specific and potentially serious risks:

  • Acute psychological crises, psychotic episodes, panic attacks and prolonged dissociative states.
  • Potentially fatal drug interactions (SSRIs, MAOIs, lithium, antipsychotics and anticonvulsants).
  • Adverse physical reactions (nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, tachycardia and hypertension).
  • Triggering or onset of latent psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia and bipolar disorder).
  • Trauma associated with a dissociative experience that has not been adequately integrated.

In addition to the compliance checks, participation requires a preliminary medical examination, a preliminary psychological assessment, written informed consent collected by the Host, and the presence of facilitators certified in the relevant tradition as well as medical or psychological support personnel.

MEDICAL CONSULTATION AND INFORMED CONSENT

5. When to consult your doctor

We recommend consulting your doctor before taking part in any Experience, particularly if you have cardiovascular disease, psychiatric or psychological disorders, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neurological condition or epilepsy, take medication (SSRIs, MAOIs, anticoagulants or insulin), have a current or recent addiction, or have recently undergone surgery.

6. Informed consent

By completing the booking, you declare that you have read and understood this Disclaimer, that you are participating voluntarily and take responsibility for your choices, that you are aware of the risks, and that you have informed, or are able to inform, the Host of all relevant health conditions.

Hosts must obtain written informed consent from every Participant before the start of any Experience with a potential impact on health and retain a copy for at least 3 years.

7. Host qualifications and our no-warranty statement

We verify the professional qualifications declared by Hosts, but we do not certify the therapeutic effectiveness of any holistic practice and do not guarantee any specific result. Any promise of guaranteed results made by a Host constitutes a breach of the Code of Ethics and must be reported to legal@soulvoyager.net.

8. Emergencies and support

In the event of a medical emergency during an Experience, contact the local emergency services immediately (112 in Europe). The Host will provide the relevant local emergency information in the pre-Experience documentation.

If you experience psychological distress during or after an Experience, contact legal@soulvoyager.net. Hosts offering practices with a high emotional impact are contractually required to have post-Experience support protocols in place.

This Disclaimer is an integral and substantial part of the Soul Voyager Terms and Conditions.
